Fundraising fever hit Attleborough Academy on Friday 17 November as the entire school community joined together to raise money for Children in Need. The Sixth Form Presidential Team took the lead, organising a range of exciting events for all our students and staff to be involved in throughout the day: a Pudsey cupcake sale, face painting, a day long ‘Row-athlon, football challenge, guess the sweets in the jar, Sixth Form ‘Superhero vs Villain’ dress up and a staff versus student netball challenge, were just some of the many activities on offer.
Sixth Formers Ella and Georgia baked the cakes that quickly sold out when put up for sale around the school. The staff and student netball match drew a great crowd as students Tala, Emily, Senna, Beth, Chantelle, Shannon and Maddie battled against the staff line-up consisting of Miss Billin, Miss Anderson, Miss Newton, Mrs Sparrow, Mrs Cushing, Mrs Marsh, Mrs Phoenix, Ms Jones, and Miss Wilson. Whilst the staff initially built up a commanding lead of 4-0, the students fought back and edged ahead to finally lead by 7-6. In the day long Row-athlon, a total team distance of 68 miles rowed was recorded – an incredible achievement – with some students raising as much as £40 each.
Sixth Form Progress Mentor Mr Nevard commented: “This Row-athlon has been the biggest and best challenge that I have been part of in over ten years of fundraising for Children in Need! Huge congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to everyone who sponsored us”.
The total raised by Attleborough Academy for Children in Need on this day was over £450, with some sponsorship money still being collected.
